Examining the effectiveness of Origami on increasing the creativity of preschool children (5-6 years old)
Abstract
Introduction: The present study was carried out with the aim of determining the effectiveness of training origami on increasing the creativity of 5-6-year-old preschool children in Khomeinishahr county. Research method: The research was of a semi-experimental research type. The studied population was the preschool students in Khomeinishahr county. Among the elementary schools of Khomeinishahr county, finally, 30 people were selected by cluster sampling. In terms of research design, 15 people were replaced in the control group and 15 in experimental group. For the experimental group, the interventions related to training origami were presented, while the control group did not receive any training. In thid study, Abedi’s creativity test was used to assess children’s creativity and the results were analyzed by univariate analysis of covariance. Findings: The findings indicated that origami training has significantly increased the creativity of children (P<0.0001). Additionally, in examining the sub-scales of creativity, the findings also indicated that origami training has significantly improved the fluidity (P<0.0001), intellectual expansion (P<0.003), innovation (P<0.0001) and flexibility (P<0.0001). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that origami training affects the different components of creativity and can be used to increase the creativity of children.
